Unarmed Security Guard Requirements in Alaska
- The applicant must be at least 18 years old.
- The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or resident alien.
- The applicant cannot be addicted to nor dependent on alcohol, narcotics, or drugs.
- The applicant cannot be suffering from any mental illnesses.
- The applicant cannot have any previous convictions or felonies within 10 years before application.
- The applicant must complete an 8 hour security guard training course.
- The applicant must complete 40 hours of in-service training within 180 days days of employment.
Armed Security Guard Requirements in Alaska
- The applicant must be at least 18 years old.
- The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or legal alien.
- The applicant cannot have previous felony convictions or any crime involvement with the illegal use of weapons.
- The applicant cannot have previously been disqualified from owning a firearm.
- The applicant must successfully pass a background check which may include fingerprinting.
- The applicant must pass a drug test.
- The applicant must have good moral character.
- The applicant must have an Alaska driver’s license.
- The applicant must have a pistol permit from Alaska state.
- The applicant must complete 8 hours of a basic security guard training course and 40 hours of in house training.
- The applicant must complete 8 hours of firearms training and safety from a certified instructor and take an annual refresher training.
